Johnny Nicholas amerikai gitáros, énekes 1948-ban született, és fiatal kora óta zenél. Tagja volt a Grammy-díjas Asleep at the Wheel nevű countryzenekarnak, a hatvanas évek közepén Duke Robillarddal közösen megalapítoptták a Black Cat Blues Band-et. 1974-ben Chicagoba költözött, itt Big Walter Horton-nal, Boogie Woogie Reddel és Robert Lockwood, Jr.-ral dolgozott együtt. Több államban is megfordult, végül Fredericksburg mellett (Texas állam) egy benzinkút helyén Hill Top Café néven országúti éttermet nyitott, s ott él feleségével és három gyermekével.
